Joliet Junior College allowed Glen Oaks to stay in the game for the first half.

The second half was a different story.

The Wolves turned up their defensive pressure to earn a 93-73 victory over Glen Oaks Community College on Saturday.

"That's been our trend so far," coach Joe Kuhn said. "In four of our games, we've had 50 or more points in the second half. It's hard to get good offense going when you're continually taking the ball out of the net. We were able to get stops defensively which really helped."

Kuhn changed defenses early in the second half which changed the dynamic of the game.

"It was 47-45 and we went to our 2-2-1 press to our 2-3 zone and that changed the game," Kuhn said. "We were having a hard time in man-to-man. They got anything they wanted and were hitting them."

The defense helped the squad to a 17-8 run to build a 13-point lead early in the second half.

Jason Bingham Jr. provided a spark off the bench nailing a 3-pointer with just over seven minutes remaining in the game to open up a 17-point lead.

Jarret Gmazel followed up his 35-point performance last game with a 27-point effort.

"He's playing great for us, knocking down shots, but he's more than a shooter," Kuhn said. "He drives it and plays great offense. Every team needs sort of a go-to guy. He's just playing great.

Chase Travis played tough inside the paint scoring 14 points. Sophomore Quincey Butler added 11 while Mitchell Kwasigroch scored 17 in the victory.

JJC (5-1) will travel to Olivet Nazarene to take on its junior varsity squad on Monday.
