Joliet Junior College continued its roll Wednesday at the Event Center.

The Wolves downed Lake Michigan College 94-78, capturing the team's fifth straight victory.

JJC got off to a hot start taking a 26-9 lead hitting six 3-pointers during the run.

"I thought the first half was as close as we could get to playing a perfect half," coach Joe Kuhn said. "We had a couple mistakes but hit nine 3s."

The Wolves led by sophomore Jarret Gmazel, who has continuously shown he's one of the top 3-point shooters in the country. The sharp-shooting Lincoln-Way Central graduate nailed seven 3-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points.

The Red Hawks made a run at JJC (12-3) cutting its lead to only five points in the middle of the second half but a 3-pointer by Mitchell Kwasigroch and a steal and layup from Richie Elias, who also had a team-high eight assists, helped the Wolves regain control of the contest.

Point guard Quincey Butler led JJC's high octane offense scoring 15 in the first half and 26 in the game. He also was a quality distributor with six assists.

"It's good (team performance), especially on our home court. It's probably the best we've played here so far. It's nice to see good shot making coming from a lot of different positions. It's also good for us to give up the lead and have to battle and hold on. It's a learning experience moving forward."

Lincoln-Way Central graduate Mitchell Kwasigroch added 18 points nailing six 3-pointers.

The Wolves will have 10 days off before squaring off against Elgin Community College on Dec. 30, a Saturday.
