The Joliet Junior College volleyball team defeated Oakton Community College in their season opener by a score of 25-20, 25-20, 25-21. Melissa Ryan led the attack with 7 kills followed by Isabella Cosentino with 6 kills, 10 assists, and 5 digs. Shannon Doran earned 5 kills, 9 assists, and 6 digs. Kendall Iversen had 9 digs, as Hailey Huml finished with 8 kills. 

"We are very pleased with the effort in our first match," Head Coach Karen Bunkenburg stated. "We saw some really good things from the line-up and are excited to see how they respond in our matches this coming weekend. Our ball control did a nice job of establishing the tempo of the match.

JJC (1-0 overall) travels to Lincoln College on Saturday, August 26, 2017 for a tri-match with Lincoln, Waubonsee Community College, and MacMurray College.
