For the second straight game, the Joliet Junior College defense was excellent.

After holding an explosive Wright squad to 62 on Wednesday, the Wolves held Harper down winning 75-59 at the Event Center on Saturday.

"I liked how we played in the second half. I think we were able to open up the lead a little bit and then maintain it in the end," coach Joe Kuhn said. "Our transition and we knocked down a couple nice looking threes (keys to victory) where we were able to penetrate, kick to the extra pass - the one to (Nick) Welter in the corner. (Jarret) Gmazel had one on the other side. We didn't settle for shots. We got good clean shots. That's the name of the game."

Harper managed only 23 points in the first half as the Wolves took a 10-point lead to halftime and never trailed in the second half.

"I think our defense is coming along each game," Kuhn said. "Quite honestly, it wasn't the prettiest offensive game for us tonight. That's two games in a row where we didn't shoot the ball well but our defensive game plan was good. We did a really nice job on number three (Jesse Young), he had to take really tough shots all game."

Nick Welter led the Wolves scoring 14 points while Jarret Gmazel's 13 were next best. The sharp-shooting Gmazel also added a team-high eight assists in the victory. He was key defensively with four steals. Mitchell Kwasigroch reached double digits with 12 points.

The Wolves will host College of Dupage at the Event Center on Wednesday.
