JOLIET - Joliet Junior College scratched and clawed but couldn't pull out a victory in a 53-50 loss against McHenry County on Saturday.
The Wolves trailed by eight after the first quarter but slowly climbed back into the game and eventually cut the lead to three points on a pair of free throws by
Amil Mitchell. The Wolves had a chance to tie, but couldn't make a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Emily Atsinger had another solid game scoring a team-high 17 points and four steals. Mitchell also reached double digits with 10 points.
Lynese Johnson and
Maiya Creal led the Wolves with seven rebounds. Creal led the Wolves with five steals. JJC finished with a whopping 17 steals. Mitchell and
Kierra Tyler each had three steals.
JJC (2-1) will host Illinois Valley Community College at 5 P.M. on Thursday.
