JOLIET - Joliet Junior College did not play a great first half. But, it's not always how you start but how you finish.

The Wolves stormed back from nine down at the half to defeat Illinois Valley Community College 83-75 at the Event Center on Thursday.

JJC trailed by seven heading to the fourth but outscored its opponent 26-11 in the final quarter to secure the win. The Wolves led 76-75 and then scored the final seven points on free throws. JJC shot 79 percent (15-19) from the free throw line.

Emily Atsinger improved upon her 19.3 points per game average with a team-high 22 for the Wolves (3-1). Talia Edwards and Maiya Creal each had 15 to round out the double digit scorers. Creal was excellent behind the arc burying four 3-pointers.

Emily Vollmer and Lynese Johnson each had three blocks for JJC. Johnson and Kierra Tyler each had three steals leading the Wolves to 15 as a team.

JJC will be back in action Saturday at 1 P.M. at the Event Center against Anoka-Ramsey.
