CHICAGO HEIGHTS - After a shaky season opener, Joliet Junior College has now won two straight, tight road games.
The Wolves edged Prairie State 88-85 on Thursday.
"This was another great win for us on the road. Prairie State is an outstanding team and will be at the top of the Skyway Conference," coach
Joe Kuhn said. "Even though we trailed the entire game, our guys really hung in there and continued to battle,. We got hot to earn the win. With basically a whole new team this year, we are trying to figure out everything but we have showed a lot of resolve.
Jaylen Jones had an excellent overall game for us and really continued to settle us down. Trey (Wornica) was really good for the second game in a row and Braiijon (Thomas) really caught fire in the last seven minutes of the game. Isaiah (Clemons) was outstanding down the stretch today as well as the Daley game where he scored our last five. Nolan's (Kennedy) game is getting better and he has been huge in both games as well."
Wornica reached the 20-point plateau for the second consecutive game with a team-high 23 points. Bolingbrook graduate
Isaiah Clemons and Kankakee native
Braijon Thomas each had 19 for the Wolves (2-1).
Nolan Kennedy and
Jaylen Jones each had 10 in the victory.
The Wolves will return home to the Event Center for a 3 P.M. tip against McHenry County. JJC will honor the 1994 National Championship team in a ceremony before the start of the game.
