WAUWATOSA, WI. - Joliet Junior College split a pair of games to finish second at the Bryant & Stratton Tournament this weekend. 

JJC fell to Kirkwood 85-56 on Saturday but defeated Bryant & Stratton 81-76 in its tournament opener on Friday.

The Wolves played tight for a quarter but Kirkwood poured it on the remainder of the way including outscoring JJC 26-9 in the second quarter. 

Kierra Tyler led the Wolves with 10 points and three assists. Lynese Johnson had seven points and eight rebounds. Amil Mitchell added two steals for JJC.

JJC trailed by 11 at halftime but turned up the heat for a comeback victory. 

The Wolves scored 31 points in the third quarter to overcome the deficit and held onto the lead in the fourth. 

Emily Atsinger was excellent scoring 25 points while NJCAA All-Star Talia Edwards recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Edwards had 10 points in the decisive fourth quarter including the two free throws late to salt the game away. 

Mitchell narrowly missed a double-double scoring nine points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Maiya Creal and Johnson each had 10 points. Atsinger, Edwards and Creal each had three steals. 

The Wolves will travel to play Lake Michigan College on Tuesday.
