Madison College gave Joliet Junior College all it could handle on Wednesday in Madison, but the Wolves made just enough plays to bring a 64-61 victory back to Joliet.
Madison had a 3-pointer to tie at the buzzer, but it fell short as JJC (20-5) is red-hot and winners of six straight. The Wolves are doing it in different ways, capable of scoring 100 points and playing games in the 60s as they did against the Wolfpack.
"Our guys really battled tonight. We were ready to play and opened up a nice lead at 42-28 but just couldn't shake them as we were not very fluid on offense," Coach
Joe Kuhn said. "Our defense really carried us which is a great sign. Many people don't realize how difficult it is to win on the road, especially when you have to travel this distance, but we made enough plays to carry us."
Lincoln-Way Central graduate
Mitchell Kwasigroch supplied the offense for the Wolves scoring 21 points while fellow Lincoln-Way Central graduate
Jarret Gmazel added 13 points.
Nick Welter rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points.
Kuhn's program has been consistent for a long time. Under his leadership, the Wolves have now won 20 games in 13 consecutive seasons and for the 17th time.
JJC will travel to Triton College concluding a three-game road trip on Saturday. The Wolves are looking to avenge a 91-76 loss in the first matchup between the two teams.
