Joliet Junior College coach Joe Kuhn has a long list of accomplishments.

Add 500 wins as a coach to his slate.

The veteran coach has won 500 games combined between coaching high school at Rich East and now as a college coach at JJC after the Wolves held off Wilbur Wright College 84-74 on Saturday.

"I've been around a long time now. I'm getting a lot older, but on the serious side I've been blessed with great assistant coaches and guys working with me," Kuhn said. "Obviously, at the end of the day, you cannot win that many games without players. I've been blessed to have a lot of good players over the years. End of the day, it's a players game. Players are going to win game, lose games and make plays. It's our job to put them in the right position. We've been able to do that a little more than we haven't been able to."

JJC (22-6) took a 13-point lead into halftime, before the Rams cut it to eight early in the second half, but the Wolves hit enough shots to extend the lead to 17 midway through the half.

Wright made one last run with about seven minutes remaining but Mitchell Kwasigroch drilled a 3-pointer to put the Wolves up 12 with just under five minutes remaining. Wright never recovered.

Sharp-shooting Jarret Gmazel had 17 points for the Wolves while fellow Lincoln-Way Central graduate Kwasigroch scored 23, a team-high.

Quincey Butler had another solid game scoring 13 points while grabbing 12 rebounds.

The Wolves will hit the road to close out the regular season. Tuesday, they will head to Harper College and then close the regular season next Saturday at College of Dupage.

"One at a time. We'll look at harper on Tuesday night," Kuhn said. "Right now, we just want to become as crisp as we can be on the offensive side as well as staying away from injuries. It's that time of year where you don't want anyone hurt, but you still want to play well, win games and keep getting better.
