Joliet Junior College is beginning to hit its stride at the right time.

After a small stretch of struggles, the Wolves have now won three straight heading toward the regular season finish line after a 110-55 victory over Wilbur Wright at the Event Center on Saturday.

The Wolves (21-7) took control from the opening tip going on a 29-6 run to begin the game.

The Wolves took a 30-point lead into halftime and cruised in the second half.

"It's always good to get the lead early," coach Shaun Sanderson said. "That way the opposing team is playing catch up rather than us trying to play catch up. It sets the tone early. Kids tend to like to play at a fast pace. It allows us to go deeper on our bench to get the starters some extra rest."

Sophomore standout Deesha Brefford had another fantastic game after scoring 30 points against Milwaukee on Wednesday. Brefford scored a game-high 36 points and added nine assists and eight rebounds.

"She's starting to get her legs back under her. She missed several games, seven to be exact," Sanderson said. "Usually, at this level, it takes about three games to get back. It looks like everything is clicking. She's shooting well at the right time with two games remaining headed toward the playoffs."

Sophomore Kianna Campbell was also solid offensively adding 12 points while being tough on defense with three steals. She narrowly missed a double-double with nine assists.

Destiny Villalejo scored 14 while Shenea Best rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.

The Wolves will close the regular season next week with a pair of road games. On Tuesday, they will travel to Harper College and then close the regular season on Saturday at College of Dupage.

"They're (Harper) going to try to play uptempo with us. Despite the record, it's a team we can't take for granted," Sanderson said. "Hopefully, if we can come out like this, we'll be victorious."
