Joliet Junior College fell down early but scored nine unanswered runs and defeated Prairie State 9-4 at Wayne L. King Field on Wednesday.
JJC (1-0) took a commanding lead scoring three times in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Wolves loaded the bases with two outs when
Jack CAVANAUGH, who drove in two runs on the day, scored on a wild pitch. Sophomore
Andrew RODRIGUEZ delivered the big blow in the inning with a two-run single putting his team up 6-2 in the fourth.
Josh TESCH tripled to lead off the fifth inning and scored on a wild pitch. The pitching staff took care of the rest for the Wolves.
Nick CLEMMONS threw three scoreless innings while striking out two.
Tyler ZAREMBKA and
Jake SUCHOR each threw a scoreless frame.
Brad Van Asdlen (1-0) picked up the win for the Wolves pitching three innings.
The Wolves will play their second game of the season on Friday at 2:30 P.M. against Harper College.
