GALLATIN, TN - Joliet Junior College split a doubleheader against Volunteer State Community College on Tuesday.
The Wolves fell 8-5 in Game 1 but bounced back for a 7-2 victory in the nightcap.
JJC (3-2) used a six-run fourth inning to take control of the second game.
Erik RUIZ led the Wolves offense with three hits.
Marcus STEWART and
Jake SUCHOR each had two RBIs.
Jake CARLSEN (1-0) was excellent on the mound picking up his first win at JJC. Carlsen threw five innings surrendering two unearned runs while striking out eight. He gave up just one hit.
Nick BECKER threw two scoreless innings in relief of Carlsen.
Game 1
The Wolves scored five times in the fourth and held the lead until Volunteer State hit a walkoff grand slam.
The homer capped off a six-run seventh inning.
Andrew RODRIGUEZ had two hits.
