Joliet Junior College had it going offensively and in the circle and cruised to a pair of wins over Moraine Valley in the team's home opener on Wednesday.
The Wolves took Game 1 7-4 and Game 2 8-0 in five innings.
Game 1
JJC (10-6) was led by Makenzie Melendez,
Rachel Goff,
Lexi Meurer and
Jasmin Torres, all of whom had two hits on the day.
The Wolves fell down three runs, but came storming back with two in the second and fourth innings. A three-run sixth inning gave the Wolves a comfortable four-run lead.
Sarah Goff and
Rachel Goff each homered in the game with
Rachel Goff driving in a team-high three runs.
Laci Meurer (5-2) picked up the win for the Wolves.
Game 2
Rachel Sangston (4-1) was excellent in the circle throwing a complete-game shutout in the second game. Sangston surrendered only three hits while striking out two.
Her offense jumped all over Moraine Valley early scoring two in the first, one apiece in the second and third innings and a four-run fifth ended the game in walkoff fashion.
Sarah Goff had two hits including her second homer of the day.
Lexi Meurer also had a two hits including a home run.
Paige Guerrero also added two hits for the Wolves.
