JOLIET - It was the result coach
Dan Brown was looking for in his debut as Joliet Junior College coach.
The Wolves battled for a 3-1 (25-18, 30-32, 25-23, 25-17) victory over Kishwaukee at the Event Center on Thursday.
JJC took the first set but dropped a hard-fought set two. The Wolves responded nicely edging the Kougars 25-23 in the third set. JJC controlled the fourth set most of the way to clinch the win for Brown.
Leading the JJC attack was
Cuay Whitener, who finished with a team-high 13 kills.
Anna Breausche (12) and
Shea Kieldyk (11) each reached double digits in kills.
Isabella Cosentino set the pace for the offense with 33 assists and served well adding five aces. Kieldyk was a force at the net with three solo blocks and a block assist.
Whitener (13 kills, 21 digs), Cosentino (33 assists, 10 digs) and Breausche (12 kills, 11 digs) all had double-doubles for the Wolves.
Libero
Emma Sweeney added 28 digs.
JJC will be in action again Saturday at the Waubonsee Tournament. The Wolves will play their opening game at 10:45 AM against Lansing Community College.
