SUGAR GROVE - Joliet Junior College salvaged a five-set (25-14, 23-25, 25-20, 17-25, 15-11) win over South Suburban at the Waubonsee Tournament this weekend. 

The Wolves also fell to Lansing Community College 3-1, Sauk Valley 3-2, and Oakton 3-0 on Saturday and Sunday.

The Wolves took the second set to even the match but fell in the final two sets. 

Cuay Whitener led JJC with seven kills while Isabella Cosentino had 19 assists.

Sauk Valley 3, Joliet Junior College 2

JJC led 2-1 but wasn't able to win either of the last two sets against Sauk Valley.

Whitener had 13 kills while Anna Breausche added 10. Cosentino added 28 assists while Emma Sweeney added 21 digs. Whitener's 17 digs gave her a double-double.

Oakton Community College 3, Joliet Junior College 0

Whitener had eight kills in the loss. Caitlin Foran added 10 digs for JJC (2-3).

Joliet Junior College 3, South Suburban 2

The Wolves edged South Suburban in five sets in their final match of the tournament. JJC hit a robust .345 in the final set to put the match away.

Whitener had another excellent match recording a team-high 14 kills while adding 27 digs for her second double-double of the tournament. Shea Kieldyk also reached double digits with 11 kills. 

Bella Cosentino ran the offense piling up 34 assists and six kills. Cosentino was solid defensively adding 19 digs. Libero Emma Sweeney was on top of her game adding a team-high 41 digs. Kiedlyk and Taylor Van Duyne each had two solo blocks.
