The JJC women's volleyball team split the four matches they played over the two days at the College of DuPage tournament in Glen Ellyn, IL over the weekend.

On Friday, the Wolves lost to Minnesota State, which came into the tournament as the #2 ranked NJCAA Division III team in the country. The Wolves won the first set 25-22, but then fell in the next three, 16-25, 13-25 and 17-25.

Then the Wolves came back to beat Century (MN) in a dramatic five set match 25-15, 25-22, 17-25, 16-25, and 15-12.

"It was a gutsy win over a very good Century team," Wolves coach
Dan Brown said. "It was a good character builder this early in the season and we had great efforts from Alyssa Ohluns,
Rebecca Ratajczyk and great clutch play by
Celeste Zavala down the stretch."

On Saturday the Wolves beat Geneseo (NY) 25-13, 25-12, 25-11, but then dropped their second game of the day to St. Cloud Tech (MN) 18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 17-25.

In the Geneseo match, Brown called it a great team effort as they hit over .300 with everyone seeing playing time.

This weekend split sees the Wolves now at 3-2 on the season.

Next up on the schedule is an away match on Tuesday, August 30th at Triton College, followed by the home opener on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. as the Wolves host Morton College.
