The JJC women's volleyball team opened their home schedule as they beat Morton College 15-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-13 as the #10 nationally ranked Wolves move to 6-1 on the season.
Morton was in control in the first game, but the Wolves dominated the second game and the third game was back & forth. Morton led the Wolves 23-20, but the Wolves came all the way back and kept the momentum going in the fourth to seal the win.
"I really think in that first game we weren't communicating as a team," sophomore
Alyssa Ohlund said. "But the second and third games we got louder, rowdier and communicated very well. We didn't know what to expect from Morton.
"Our team work definitely worked down the stretch in the third game, especially to come all the way back and that showed our character."
Coach
Dan Brown was pleased with the teams server receive effort and the play of KJ Friestad.
"I really think that first game was just playing at home for the first time," Brown said. "You have a good crowd and we really didn't know much about Morton. That third game was purely a testament to the girls. They stayed calm, didn't over react and took it one point at a time. It also showed the experience that was on the floor at the time because I didn't make many adjustments."
The Wolves are now off until they travel to Rochester, Minnesota for a tournament September 9
