The JJC women's soccer team faced off against Harper this past Saturday in the Region Finals. The last two matchups with these teams ended in a 5-2 Wolves victory and a 3-3 tie.

The Wolves started off strong with a nice goal from the game's MVP Jacqueline Torres. They continued to get some great opportunities as they racked up their shots on goal. The determination from these ladies was quickly rewarded as they netted their second goal from Jalyssa Villafuerte. The Wolves continued to dominate control of the first half and even put in a third goal from Adriana Plascencia who punched in a bouncing ball in the box off a corner kick from Arely Cisneros. The Hawks put in a late goal off a set piece to end the half 3-1.

Harper tried to start their come back in the second half with a hard shot that came from 12 yards out, but Gabby Ayala was up to the task, making the save to her right side. She finished the game with 2 saves. Their attack was short lived, however, as Jalyssa bagged her second goal after a beautiful through ball from Stephanie Tirrito. It was by this point that the Wolves could taste victory and continued to push forward with opportunity after opportunity. The last goal of the game came from Stephanie after a strike just outside the 18. The Wolves closed out the game with a 5-1 victory. This is the first JJC Women's Soccer Region win since 2018.

Henry Cheung received Coach of the Year and Jacqueline Torres received MVP.

The Wolves will now travel to Rochester, Minnesota, for the Midwest District Championship and a semi-final game vs Anoka-Ramsey at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 28th.
