The first road trip of the year didn't begin as expected for the Joliet Junior College women's basketball team.
Despite a strong effort, the Wolves fell, 59-55, to host Waubonsee Community College on Tuesday, suffering their first loss on the young season.
Grace Harris led the Wolves (3-1), recording a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Breanna Fogle added 11 points and
Angie Knowles finished with 10.
"Although we lost today, it was a valuable learning experience for our team," Knowles said. "We gave it our all and fought. However, we needed that energy in the beginning, we came into the game already beating ourselves. It's in these moments of defeat that we grow stronger and become more determined to improve."
"Tonight was our first night of going through adversity," said Wolves head coach
Shaun Sanderson. "This was a good test. I thought our freshmen gave us outstanding minutes when our sophomores struggled out there tonight. They stayed poised, but we have to be able to execute down the stretch. I'm confident that they learned from this. I think they saw all the positives and know that they could've done better in some of those tough times. It was a great game."
The Wolves will have a chance to bounce back Thursday as their road trip continues with Morton College. Tip off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
