Despite strong performances from
Alex Vassilakis,
Romello Ali and
Jalen Williams, the Wolves fell behind early and could never recover in Tuesday night's loss to Waubonsee, 88-78.
Vassilakis led Joliet (1-3) with 20 points and six rebounds. Ali scored 17 points and Williams finished with 12 in the effort.
Devon Richardson recorded a double-double in the outing, scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
Waubonsee, the 17
th-ranked Division II team in the country, made 21 for 30 attempts from the free throw line while the Wolves were a perfect 9 for 9.
The Wolves were unable to take the lead in the game and trailed 45-33 at halftime.
The road trip continues for the Wolves as they visit Morton College on Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
