The Wolves snapped a four game losing streak Tuesday night as the Joliet women's basketball team defeated Governor's State University (JV) at home, 77-70.
Kiyah Robertson, the Division III Region 4 Player of the Week, led the Wolves with 19 points. The freshman also added eight rebounds, three blocks and an assist in the win.Â
"Tonight was a great game for us," said head coach
Shaun Sanderson. "To lose the way we did yesterday and come back less than 24 hours later and get a win is a sign of maturity. The girls erased yesterday's game and tonight's first half played out of their minds to compete and win this game."
Grace Harris also came through for Joliet, scoring 13 points with six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.Â
Angie Knowles added 12 points and seven rebounds while
Maggie Grady scored 11 with six rebounds.Â
"I think we did what we needed to do tonight," Knowles said. "There are still areas we must improve on. It wasn't our best game, btu we kept fighting."
During the halftime break, Joliet's performance psychology coach Scott Halicky led a breathing and meditation session that Sanderson praised.
"It truly was a difference maker in the second half," he said.
The Wolves (4-4) move back to .500 on the year. They will have a chance to build momentum as Joliet travels to Moraine Valley Community College on Thursday.Â
