The Wolves needed a statement win, and they got just that Saturday when they earned a hard-fought victory over No. 15 Rochester Community and Technical College, 78-74.

Freshman Devon Richardson led the Wolves (6-9), scoring 20 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Sophomore Alex Vassilakis also scored 20 points. Freshman Romello Ali added 14 points.

In his best game of the season so far, freshman Miles Gillespie scored 12 points while adding eight rebounds and seven assists.

Last season, Rochester finished third in the NJCAA.

Saturday's win marks the third straight for Joliet, the longest streak of the season so far.

"Tough outing against a solid Rochester team," head coach Danny Turner said. "Having gone through adversity in our early season, we are showing signs of growth at the right time. These guys love playing with each other."

The Wolves will have the chance to build on their momentum when they face Anoka-Ramsey Community College at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
