Despite coming out of the gate playing tough, the Wolves just couldn't keep up with the top-ranked team in NJCAA Division II as Jolie fell to Kirkwood, 84-41, Thursday during the 42nd Annual ICC Holiday Tournament in East Peoria, IL.

"They didn't back down to the number one team in the country," head coach Shaun Sanderson said. "They fought and gave it all they had."

Kiyah Robertson led Joliet with 16 points in the game, adding three rebounds and two blocks.

"I think we came into the game with good spirits and we gave them a run for their money," Robertson said. "Our problem is consistency and we lost it in the third quarter. As we continue to grow as a team, I think the more consistent and in tune we become, the better we will get."

Grace Harris finished with eight points, seven rebounds and six assists. Maggie Grady also scored eight points, adding seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Angie Knowles finished with seven points and six rebounds.

"This game will help prepare us for the playoffs," Sanderson said. "We are getting our share of experience and we see the growth. Once we get healthy and continue to improve our skill development, this team will began to take some strides."

The Wolves will face Black Hawk on Friday at 10 a.m. in the losers bracket.
