For the first time since 2015, the JJC Wolves baseball team are NJCAA Region 4 champions.

JJC was the only undefeated team in the double elimination tournament going into the Region 4 tournament's final day as they faced Waubonsee Community College on Monday, May 15.

The Wolves dropped the first game 7-4, setting up the winner-take-all finale. JJC jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Waubonsee put up six runs in the sixth inning to take a 6-4 lead. However, the Wolves weren't finished. They came back in the eighth inning and put up six of their own runs to secure the 10-6 win.

Jack Otis was outstanding in relief as he pitched the final 3 1/3 innings, striking out six, giving up three hits and no earned runs to gain the victory.

Jake Wilk was 2-for-3 with the go-ahead RBI as he was named Tournament MVP and Coach Gregg Braun was named NJCAA Region 4 Coach of the Year.

"To win the regional title for the first time in eight years — and on our home field — was truly unforgettable for this team," head coach Gregg Braun said. "It's a testament to their hard work this season and perseverance Monday after two games. We're grateful for the amazing support from our fans and families and are enjoying this win while we prepare for what's ahead."

Next up is the Great Lakes District tournament as JJC will host Owens Community College from Wood County, Ohio, in a best 2-of-3 series. The series will start with a noon doubleheader on Friday, May 19 with a single game on Saturday if needed.

The winner gets the automatic bid to the NJCAA Division III World Series in Greeneville, Tennessee, beginning May 27.
