Women's basketball cruises to victory over Morton College

Demi Page scores 30 as Wolves win, 91-11

After Saturday's loss on the road, the Joliet Junior College women's basketball team was looking to bounce back Tuesday when the Wolves hosted Morton College. They did that and more as the Wolves knocked off the Panthers, 91-11.

The Wolves (3-1) started hot as they shutout the Panthers in the opening quarter, 32-0, and didn't give up a basket until nearly 90 seconds into the second quarter. At the half, the Wolves led the Panthers, 56-4.

Freshman Demi Page put up 30 points on the day to pace the Wolves. She also recorded seven steals, six rebounds, three assists and a block.

"It gives us a little more confidence," said Page. "I feel like in our last game we could have come out better and this helps us going into Thursday."

"I'm not surprised by Demi's production tonight," said Wolves coach Shaun Sanderson. "She had a really good practice yesterday where she made 20 straight jump shots at one point. Demi was also the first player on the floor before today's game. It all carried over to the game."

Two Wolves had double-doubles as sophomore Kiyah Robertson finished with 24 points and 18 rebounds while freshman Joyce Tua-Link had 18 points with 12 rebounds. Sophomore Olivia Rafalski also had 10 points.

The Wolves shot 45% on the night, going 40 of 88 but just 3 of 27 from beyond the arc. They shot 8 of 10 from the foul line.

Next up for the Wolves is a battle against Waubonsee Community College on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the JJC Event Center.
