The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team got a hard-earned victory Thursday night at the JJC Event Center, beating Moraine Valley, 89-76.
Sophomore
Devon Richardson and freshman
Jeffrey Fleming recorded double-doubles to power the Wolves (6-4). Richardson finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Fleming ended the game with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman Denyell Rush scored 20 points and
Romello Ali finished with 16.
The Wolves shot 47.6% on the night, going 30 of 63 attempts and 5 for 11 from beyond the arc. The team finished 24 of 28 from the free throw line.
"I thought it was a great team game from our end, both offensively and defensively," said Wolves coach Danny Turner. "You've got to give those guys credit in terms of coming together. They communicated well."
The Cyclones kept it close for much of the game, trailing the Wolves 38-36 at the half and exchanging leads on both sides of the break. The Wolves pulled away late in the game despite a rally attempt by the Cyclones.
Next up for the Wolves is a trip to Governors State (JV) on Monday at 7 p.m. The Wolves will play in four games next week.
