Opening day at Wayne L. King Field could not have gone much better for the Wolves, as Joliet Junior College took both games of Sunday's doubleheader against Illinois Valley Community College.

The Wolves (4-2) shutout the Eagles in Game One, 10-0, in six innings.

Jaden Mathon (1-0) picked up the win after throwing four scoreless innings in which he didn't allow a hit while striking out seven.

Mason Heitzler went 3 of 4 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Mitch Thomas and Ryan Holloway each recorded two hits while Dylan Scafuri went 1 of 3 with a two-run double.

The Wolves got on the board in the third inning with two runs. They scored three in the fourth, two in the fifth and three more in the sixth inning.

Game Two was a bit closer as JJC held off a late rally by the Eagles to win, 7-5.

Jack Otis (2-0) picked up the win after throwing four scoreless innings in which he allowed just one hit and struck out three. Gavin Sebby picked up the save throwing 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.

Scafuri went 2 of 3 at the plate with another double and RBI. Max Mallindine finished 2 of 4 with a pair of RBI's and a double of his own.

After scoring four runs in the third inning, the Wolves pushed the lead to six in the fourth. Illinois Valley got on the board for the first time in the afternoon in the sixth inning when a ground out allowed the Eagle runner at third to reach home. The Wolves answered with their seventh run at the bottom of the inning.

The Eagles attempted a late rally with four runs scored in the top of the seventh, but the Wolves prevailed.

Next up for the Wolves is a home game against Harper College on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
