The 2024 campaign came to a conclusion for the Joliet Junior College baseball team on Saturday as the Wolves fell to Oakton College, 2-1, in the NJCAA Division III Region 4 Tournament.

After three scoreless innings to begin the game, the Wolves (24-31) struck first in the bottom of the fourth. Cooper Hertz got things going with a line drive to center field. After Dylan Scafuri hit a fly out, Hobbs Dunne stepped in with a sacrifice bunt to push Hertz to second base. Jonny Carrera brought Hertz home with a line drive of his own, giving the Wolves a 1-0 advantage.

Oakton didn't respond until the eighth inning, when a pair of singles allowed Oakton to take the lead. The Wolves couldn't muster a response, having one walked in the bottom of the inning before going three-and-out in the ninth to end the season.

Hertz, Carrera, Mason Heitzler and Matt Klaess all recorded a hit for the Wolves.

Jack Otis had the start at pitcher for JJC, pitching seven innings in which he struck out nine and walked two while allowing four hits and a run. Matt Donovan recorded the loss after an inning of relief, allowing two hits and the go-ahead run for Oakton. Gavin Sebby pitched the final inning for the Wolves.

The loss eliminates the Wolves from the Region 4 Tournament.
