The Wolves took an early lead and maintained it Thursday as the Joliet Junior College baseball team beat host Harper College, 6-9.

In the top of the second, the Wolves (22-29) scored three runs to get things started. Diego Garcia-Medina doubled to push two runners across home which was followed by a Mason Heitzler sac fly to score another. During the third, a double play allowed the Wolves to push their lead to 4-0.

Harper managed to cut into the score in the fourth with a run, but the Wolves answered with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to make it 6-1. Harper added three runs in the bottom of the inning and again, the Wolves answered with three of their own in the sixth. 

Up 9-4, the Wolves held off a late push by Harper that saw two runs scored in the eighth inning, but JJC survived to take the win.

Jack West earned the win on the mound for the Wolves with four hits and four runs through five innings of work, while also walking four and striking out four. Gavin Sebby recorded the save, pitching four innings in which he struck out five while allowing three hits, two runs and a walk.

Garcia-Medina finished 1 for 5 with three RBI's. Dylan Scafuri went 2 for 2 with two runs and an RBI while being walked once. 

The Wolves wrap up the regular season on Saturday in doubleheader action against Moraine Valley Community College beginning at noon.
