The Joliet Junior College men's soccer team has its eyes set on qualifying for the national tournament, and the campaign begins Friday, August 23 when the Wolves travel to Rock County, Wisc. to play Wisconsin-Whitewater at 4 p.m.
"My expectation is to compete well against the Division II schools and ultimately reach the national championship tournament in Batavia, New York," said Wolves head coach
Cris Trillo.
Last season, the Wolves fell just short of winning the regional championship and advancing in a shootout loss to Harper College.
Entering his 24
th year of coaching with an overall record of 164-138-20, Trillo will lead the Wolves against a schedule of teams the coach says are "all strong opponents."
Returning for the Wolves in 2024 are
Adrian Gonzalez (right wing),
Jordi Muntada (center mid),
Jonathan Mendez (left wing),
Aaron Razo (left mid), and
Angel Casillas (center back).
Among the new student-athletes expected to perform well on the field are
Noah Anhalt (center forward),
Dylon Heiderich (right back), Jesus Diaz (center back),
Ivan Escatel (GK).
The Wolves played a pair of scrimmages last week against Trinity and Elgin with a third this past Tuesday against Governors State.
