The JJC women's volleyball team participated in the College of DuPage tournament over the weekend, going 0-4 across two days.

"This weekend was absolutely the toughest test our program has faced all season," head coach Tom Welsh said. "All four matches were against NJCAA Division III top 15 teams, and three of the four were against top seven teams in the country. We committed a lot of errors throughout the weekend, most of which were unforced, and that doesn't translate to many wins. All week we focused on energy, effort and serve receive, and those were the three positives to take away from this weekend, all of which got better each match. We learned this weekend what it takes to be a team that is good enough to play at the national tournament, and with time, we believe that we can compete at that level."

In their first match of the weekend, the Wolves fell to host No. 4 DuPage, 3-0 (15-25; 14-25; 9-25). Aubrey Phillips finished with eight kills while Haylee Dunne recorded 11 assists.

The Wolves lost their second match on Friday to No. 2 Century, 3-0 (13-25; 15-25; 15-25). Phillips had another six kills and Monika Jurek had six kills as well. Natalie Martinez recorded nine digs.

On Saturday, the Wolves fell to No. 7 Minnesota West Community & Technical College, 3-0 (13-25; 17-25; 11-25). Jurek recorded eight kills and Livija Luzaite had five. Dunne and Abby Rivera each finished with nine assists.

In their final match of the weekend, JJC fell to No. 15 Dallas College North Lake, 3-0 (17-25; 9-25; 13-25). Phillips finished the match with another eight kills and Rivera reached 11 assists.

"Although it was a disappointing weekend, seasons aren't determined in September; we have 25+ matches to go to prove we belong," Welsh said.

The Wolves return to action on Monday when they travel to Prairie State at 6 p.m.
