Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Devin Jones

Men's soccer falls on the road at Madison College, 4-2

Joliet Junior College men's soccer put together a strong first half but ultimately fell to undefeated No. 14 Madison College, 4-2, on Wednesday.

The Wolves struck first two minutes into the match when Richard Tetteh connected on a goal with an assist from Linus Asenkerschbaum.

But Madison College responded quickly with three goals in a 10-minute span, capitalizing on JJC's defensive lapses to take a 3-1 lead midway through the first half. The Wolves quickly cut into the deficit when Jesse Goense scored in the 27th minute, bringing the Wolves within one heading into halftime.

Madison extended its lead to 4-2 in the 48th minute and JJC was unable to find the net the rest of the match despite a strong push late.

Goalkeeper Ivan Escatel recorded six saves in the los, while JJC totaled eight shots -- all on goal.

After the game, head coach Cris Trillo said he was proud of his team's effort against one of the nation's top programs.

"I felt good about our performance. A couple of tactical mistakes and poor execution cost us two goals that were avoidable," Trillo said. "But we have to learn from these moments because very good teams will capitalize when they happen."

Trillo also noted that several players are dealing with injuries and hopes to have them healthy by the postseason.

Next up, the Wolves host South Suburban College on Friday at 1 p.m.
