Women's soccer falls to South Suburban College in home finale, 5-1

In a battle between two ranked teams, Joliet Junior College women's soccer fell at home to South Suburban College, 5-1, on Friday. The loss moves JJC to 12-3-1 on the season.

South Suburban opened scoring in the 4th minute, but JJC quickly responded when Gloria Barrios found the back of the net in the 15th minute to even the match at 1-1. From there, South Suburban regained control, scoring three more times late in the first half at the 35th, 40th and 43rd minutes to take a 4-1 lead into halftime.

South Suburban added one final goal off a free kick early in the second half to cap things off.

After the match, assistant coach Hailey Arlis reflected on the team's effort and the lessons learned heading into postseason play.

"Obviously not the result we wanted, but it helps us figure things out as we head into the postseason," Arlis said. "They got better in the second half after a rough start to the first, and I give them credit for that."

The Wolves will close out the regular season on the road at Olivet Nazarene University (JV) as they look to bounce back and build momentum heading into playoff play.
