The Joliet Junior College women's soccer team fell to Rock Valley Community College, 3-0, on Wednesday in a hard-fought match that remained competitive throughout.
JJC found itself trailing early to the 13th-ranked Division II opponent, but goalkeeper Mikayla Adrieansen came up with several key saves in the first half, including a few impressive sliding stops to keep the Wolves within reach. However, in the 37th minute, Rock Valley found the back of the net again to extend its lead to 2-0 heading into halftime.
The second half was physical and chippy as both sides battled for control. The Wolves generated several opportunities to cut into the deficit but failed to capitalize, and Rock Valley sealed the match with a late goal in the 87th minute to secure their victory.
With the loss, JJC drops to 11-2, marking its second straight defeat after an 11-0 start to the season. The Wolves will look to bounce back Saturday on Sophomore Day when they host Milwaukee Area Technical College at 11 a.m.
