Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Devin Jones

Men's basketball defeats Kishwaukee, 79-68

Joliet Junior College men's basketball improved to 2–0 with a 79–68 win over Kishwaukee College Tuesday night at home.

The game started slow for the Wolves as Kishwaukee came out hot from beyond the arc, knocking down nine three-pointers in the first half. JJC also played without their 6-foot-9 big man Victor Yatou, a key presence in the paint, and Kishwaukee tried to exploit that early.

However, the Wolves came out of halftime with renewed energy, locking in defensively and forcing multiple turnovers that led to easy transition buckets for JJC. The Wolves opened the second half on a 12–0 run led by Jeffrey Fleming and Levi Goad, who both continued their hot starts to the season. JJC took control from there and pulled away late, sealing the win with two emphatic jams by Kareem Parker to close the game. Parker filled in at the center position and delivered a strong performance with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Fleming posted another standout effort, finishing with 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Goad added 17 points and six rebounds, impacting the game on both ends.

Head coach Danny Turner praised his team's second-half adjustments and energy.

"We had to make some adjustments, and I told them whichever team was going to make the most effort was going to win this game," Turner said. "Kudos to our freshmen, they have to learn fast, and they're learning at the rate we expected. We're really proud of them."

Levi Goad emphasized his focus on doing whatever it takes to help the team win.

"Finding ways to impact winning without scoring the ball has been key for me to help my team," Goad said.

The Wolves move to 2–0 on the season, and will look to stay hot when they travel to face Elgin Community College on Friday, November 7.
