Box Score A historic performance wasn't enough for the Wolves as the women's basketball team fell to Southwestern Michigan, 75-56, on Saturday.
Destynia McGruder led the Wolves (3-5) with a triple-double performance, recording 15 points, 16 rebounds and 12 blocks in the loss. It's the Wolves' first triple-double since former All-American Shantel Johnson did it 18 years ago.
Sarai Carter was the only other Wolf to reach double-digits scoring with 12.Â
The Wolves trailed at the half, 30-26, and were down by as little as four points late in the fourth quarter but fell behind fast.
"We are definitely having some growing pains right now," Wolves coach
Shaun Sanderson said. "We have a couple key players suffering from some minor injuries. I definitely saw the difference today.
"Once this young group adjusts and listens to what we're teaching them, we will see different results. It's going to take a team effort to get back on a winning track."
The loss marks the Wolves' fifth straight. They will look to snap the skid on Tuesday when JJC hosts Kennedy-King College at 5 p.m. at the JJC Event Center.
