A late steal by Triton College ultimately doomed the Wolves on Saturday as Joliet Junior College women's basketball ended the regular season on the losing end, 55-53.
Tied at 53-all with 36 seconds remaining, the Wolves (14-13) turned the ball over and allowed Triton to score with 16 seconds left. With three seconds remaining,
Kiera Hunt attempted a 3-point shot that went in and bounced out, allowing Triton to get the rebound as the buzzer sounded.
"The 'Magnificent Seven' fought a good fight today," said Wolves coach
Shaun Sanderson. "Our schedule has prepared us for the playoffs. Yes, we need to clean some things up but I feel we are right where we need to be."
Lovely Tua-Link powered the Wolves offense with 18 points while
Demi Page score 12.
Kiyah Robertson recorded nine point and nine rebounds in the loss.
"We played together, communicated and executed our game plan," said Tua-Link. "Even when things got rough, we stayed together and finished strong. I am very happy and proud to have ended the season this way with my team."
The loss not only ends the Wolves' regular season but also a winning streak after winning five straight games. Next up, the Wolves travel to Texas for post-season action against Cedar Valley.
