Baseball sweeps the day against Bryant & Stratton

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Wolves earned a pair of wins Saturday as Joliet Junior College baseball swept visiting Bryant & Stratton in doubleheader action. JJC won the first game, 3-1, and the second, 3-2.

After four scoreless innings in the first game, it was the visiting side that finally pushed a score home to take a 1-0 lead. The Wolves responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning and a third in the sixth for the final.

Daniel McCauley earned the win on the mount after 1.2 innings pitched in which he walked one and allowed one hit while striking out two. Daniel Police pitched 4.2 innings in which he gave up three hits and a run while walking four and striking out three. Danny O'Malley earned the save.

The Wolves recorded seven hits in the first game. 

Game two went a lot different, as the Wolves scored in the opening frame. They added another run in the bottom of the third to go up, 2-0, before Bryant & Stratton responded in the fifth with a pair of runs to even the tally.

A Zack Tarrant single in the sixth pushed a runner home to give the Wolves the lead. Tarrant finished 2-for-3 in a game where the Wolves amassed four hits. 

Four pitchers put work in for the Wolves in the second game. Anthony Rizo earned the win after 1.1 innings in which he struck out one and allowed two hits. Kyle Bader earned the save with a partial inning pitched in which he struck out one.

Holden Burokas pitched 4.1 innings, giving up four hits and allowing two runs while walking four and striking out two. Zachary Smolkovich pitched a partial inning for the Wolves.

The Wolves will return to action on Tuesday when they host Prairie State at 3 p.m.
