Softball handles business at home in sweep of Carl Sandburg

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Wolves have now won six of their last eight games after Joliet Junior College softball swept Carl Sandburg on Saturday at home.

Game one ended after five innings when the Wolves stormed ahead for a 15-3 final. 

Arianna Jentel (3-5) earned the win, pitching all five innings in which she allowed a pair of runs and struck out four.

The Wolves offense could not be stopped, as Isabella Hanson finished 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI's and a pair of runs. Lea Herkel went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI along with three runs scored. Samantha Rios also recorded a double as she finished 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI's.

Taylor Wells recorded a home run, going 1-for-2 at the plate with two RBI's. Paige Borton finished 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI's.

Game two was a closer contest with the game tied in the bottom of the seventh, but the Wolves came out on top, 10-9, when Natalie Reyes was walked to give the home team the go-ahead run.

Alaina Moreno (2-0) earned the win on the mound.

Carl Sandburg could do little to slow down the Wolves offense once more. Hanson went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI's while Katie Johnske finished 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and three runs scored.

Skylar Welcome recorded a home run while Lauren Pell went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Ashlynn Pachetti went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI along with a run scored.

The Wolves improve to 10-12 on the season and will look to reach .500 on Monday when they play at Waubonsee at 3 p.m.
