Women's Soccer Looks to Rebound in 2025

08.21.2025

After a challenging 2024 campaign, the Joliet Junior College women's soccer team looks to rebound this season.

"We are coming off a challenging 2024 campaign, where results didn't match the effort and the team struggled to sustain consistency throughout the season." said head coach Henry Cheung. "Our goal is to compete in every game, no matter the opponent or the conditions. Compete for the District title as a primary goal and earn a spot in the national tournament."

Chueng said to expect a healthy mix of returning student-athletes and newcomers as the Wolves plan to lean on the veterans to guide a young core early in the season. Defenders Teagan Sanderson and Abby Hermanson join midfielders Gloria Barrios and Jazmin Rodriguez as well as goalkeeper Mikayla Adrieansen as the veteran group leading the Wolves.

New student-athletes this year include:

Sophia Rausa, defender: "Sophia is very smart, fast and versatile. She is an amazing young player who can physically dominate the game defensively and break it open in attack."

Olivia Ostrowski, midfielder: "Olivia is a big addition to our squad. We love her work rate, both in attack as well on defense. She creates problems for the opponent through her great physical strength and speed."

Cayla Koranda, midfielder: "Cayla is a great addition to our attack. She is powerful and quick on the ball and is always a threat to score from anywhere within 35 yards of goal."

"We're bringing in a strong mix of young talent and experienced players, and they can make an immediate impact," said Cheung. "The younger players are fearless and eager to prove themselves, while the experienced ones bring leadership and composure."

The Wolves open the regular season Friday at home against Harper College at 3 p.m. Cheung is assisted by Hailey Arlis and volunteer coaches James Anderson and Veronica Brito.
