Joliet Junior College men's soccer came out firing Wednesday, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Rock County, 5-1.
The Wolves wasted no time getting on the board, with Dylon Heiderich striking in the 3rd minute. Just two minutes later, Adrian Maldonado doubled the lead, finishing off a pass from Tevaris Neidecker.
JJC controlled possession throughout the first half and extended the advantage in the 33rd minute when Linus Grätz found the back of the net off an assist from Heiderich.
That dominance carried into the second half. Jaime Gutierrez added a fourth goal in the 51st minute before Neidecker capped the scoring in the 77th, set up by AJ Romero.
The Wolves allowed just one goal on the day and secured the 5-1 victory.
Head coach Cris Trillo praised the performance but emphasized areas for improvement.
"I'm happy with this win and I feel like we're on the right track," Trillo said. "At the same time, we need to work on releasing the ball quicker and finding each other so we can move it side to side more effectively."
With the win, JJC improves to 2-0 and will travel to Morton College on Tuesday.
