The Joliet Junior College women's soccer team earned a hard-fought victory over Waubonsee Community College on Saturday, 3-1.
It was a competitive match throughout, but the Wolves set the tone early with a 3-1 lead at halftime and held strong to secure the victory. Assistant coach James Anderson credited the team's focus despite the spotlight of their record-setting start.
"Our schedule coming up is going to be a little more difficult," he said. "I think it's just about having that growth mindset and taking it one game at a time and stepping up to the occasion every time."
Freshman forward Sophia Rausa credited her team's culture for driving both her individual development and the Wolves' overall consistency.
"I think my teammates definitely push me during practice and during games, and we hold each other accountable," said Rausa. "It helps us to make progress and stay consistent."
With the win, JJC improves to 9-0, the best start in program history. The Wolves' previous best opening came in 2017, when the team began 7-0-1. JJC will look to keep its undefeated start intact when they travel to Bryant & Stratton College next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
