Women's basketball falls to Malcolm X, 100-64

01.17.2026

The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team dropped a 100–64 decision to Malcolm X College as the Wolves, playing shorthanded, battled throughout but could not slow a strong second-half surge.

JJC trailed 48–34 at halftime after Malcolm X put together a late first-half run, then extended it after halftime by controlling the tempo and capitalizing on offensive opportunities. Despite the final score, the Wolves continued to compete and fight for momentum on both ends of the floor.

Demi Page led Joliet with 26 points and four rebounds, providing consistent offense and leadership as the Wolves worked to stay within reach.

After the game, head coach Shaun Sanderson focused on growth and evaluation moving forward.

"We have to identify and let them know where we were during this game," Sanderson said. "I didn't think we had the same effort as the last game against Kankakee, but all in all, I thought Reni did a great job. She doesn't get many minutes, but she played the entire second half, and now that gives us another body we can trust moving forward."

Page echoed the need for focus as the season progresses.

"Everybody has to be on the same page. We're at the heart of our season and we can't get in our heads, including me. We've just got to be better," she said.

The Wolves will look to bounce back when they host Bryant & Stratton College on Jan. 20 at 5 p.m.
