Joliet Junior College men's basketball came up just short in a back and forth battle, falling 72–71 to Bryant & Stratton College on Tuesday night in a dramatic finish.
Bryant & Stratton held a slim 34–29 lead at halftime, but JJC stayed within striking distance throughout the game and answered every run as the second half unfolded.
With Kareem Parker dealing with foul trouble, Kaden Faber provided a huge spark off the bench, giving the Wolves valuable minutes and efficient scoring. Faber was perfect from the field, finishing with 12 points on 6 of 6 shooting, helping JJC stay within one possession down the stretch.
The game came down to the final seconds when Bryant & Stratton connected on two free throws to take a three point lead. On the ensuing possession, Ricky Hill was fouled on a full court shot attempt, earning three free throws with a chance to send the game into overtime. Hill knocked down the first two comfortably, but the third rolled halfway around the rim before falling out, sealing the one point loss.
Hill led the Wolves with 19 points, while Jeffery Fleming added 16 points and eight rebounds. Parker finished with 11 points and six rebounds
Despite shooting 64 percent from the field in the second half, Joliet could not overcome missed free throws late, as the Wolves finished 7 of 15 from the line.
Joliet will look to bounce back Thursday when they face South Suburban College at 7 p.m.
