Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Devin Jones

Men’s Basketball Upsets No. 12 Madison College, 104–94

Joliet Junior College men's basketball earned a statement win over No. 12 ranked Madison College in a highly competitive matchup, pulling away late for a 104–94 victory Tuesday/

The first half was a back and forth battle, with both teams trading baskets early. After making key defensive adjustments to slow down the Wolfpack's 3-point shooting, the Wolves were able to create separation and went into halftime with a 50–42 lead.

JJC carried that momentum into the second half, led by standout performances from Jyaveion Green and Ricky Hill. The Wolves maintained control offensively while holding off multiple Madison runs to secure the 10 point win and improve to 8–10 on the season.

Green finished with 27 points and five rebounds, while Hill delivered an impressive 37 point performance along with four assists. Earlier in the day, Hill was recognized with an Academic Student-Athlete award for maintaining a GPA above 3.0 with an outstanding 4.0.

After the game, head coach Danny Turner praised his team's chemistry and growth.

"Kudos to our guys' chemistry today. They played together well defensively and offensively, and I believe we're really starting to come around and do the necessary things to put us in that win category," Turner said.

Levi Goad also reflected on the victory.

"That's a good team, and I'm glad we were able to grind it out and win a pretty gutty game," Goad said.

On the team's overall progress, Goad added, "just locking in mentally and playing for each other. It's still work to be done, but it's coming together."

The Wolves will look to carry their momentum into Thursday's matchup against Illinois Valley Community College.
