Women's soccer falls in Region 4 championship, 1-0

The Wolves fell short Friday as Joliet Junior College women's soccer lost to College of DuPage, 1-0, in the NJCAA Division III Region 4 Championship.

A penalty kick with 2:30 left in the first half slipped by JJC goalkeeper Giselle Aguirre-Almazan. The Wolves had chances of their own in the second half, including a penalty kick by Bella Yarc that shanked to the left and a shot on goal by Lydia Wajda that hit the post.

"This one hurts because of how much this group invested in the season," said Wolves coach Henry Cheung. "I'm proud of what these players have accomplished.

"This group has worked hard all season, and one result doesn't define who we are."
