Wolves track teams continue good start to indoor season

02.01.2026

The JJC track and field teams continued their good early season start at the Olivet Nazarene invitational this past Friday. The teams combined for four school records and an additional six national qualifying marks.

Gabby Zid and Ka'mhary Scott set school marks, as Zid ran 4:48 in the mile and Scott broke her record set last week in the 60 Meter dash (7.11).

"We had another good meet for the women and we still don't have a full squad," Wolves coach Jeff DeGraw said. "I was happy with the progress and we had many personal best which is a good thing, especially this early. Corrine Thomas (hurdles), Allison Bohounek (mile) and Izzy Bunting (shot put) performed well."

For the men Nathan Ciarlette (1,000 meters) and Caleb Kies (600 m) set new standards. Vince Demma just missed a school record in winning the 400 and Gavin Carlson won the mile with a big personal best in 4:23.

"Vince (Demma) and Gavin (Carlson) ran smart and with confidence to win their races," DeGraw said. "Because of some sickness and injury issues the men are also missing some pieces to the team puzzle.

"Both teams continue to get a little better each week and in all areas, from the field events, sprints and distance. We will just keep adding pieces as we go along."

The Wolves return to Olivet Nazarene next Friday for the Walt Cramer Invite.
