The Joliet Junior College track and field teams concluded the indoor portion of their season this past Friday at the Slick Invitational hosted by North Central College as the Wolves continued their success.
Â
Three school records and two new National qualifiers were established on the women's side. Ka'mhary Scott continued her assault on the 60m record book as she ran a 7.96 to break her own school record. She then came back and qualified for Nationals in the 400m dash.
Corrine Thomas established a new school record in the 60m hurdles, as she ran the second fastest 60 dash in school history and a personal best in the 200.Â
Gabby Zid reset her school record in the mile and
Allison Behounek qualified for Nationals in the 800 after running a 12-second PR in the mile.Â
"I can't say enough about how the women's team performed," Wolves coach Jeff DeGraw said. "Many ran off events, yet everybody ran personal bests or close to it."Â
On the men's side,
Caleb Kies qualified in the 400m dash and was joined by teammates
Vince Demma andÂ
Keaton Stroner in the 800, qualifying for Nationals.Â
"I was so impressed by the way Demma and Stroner ran the 800," DeGraw said. "It was their first 800 in over a year and it shows what kind of potential they have no matter what event they run.Â
"We had so many PRS and everyone competed very well. This was a good stepping stone for both teams as we move to the outdoor season."
