Three Wolves' wrestlers have qualified for the national tournament in March.
Representing the Joliet Junior College men's wrestling team will be
Isaac Barba and
Adrian Hernandez. The pair qualified after high finishes over the weekend at the NJCAA Great Lakes District in Muskegon, Mich.
Hernandez earned a third place finish in the 141-weight class to qualify. After falling in the quarterfinal bout, Hernandez won the first two rounds of the consolation bracket by decision to advance to the third place final and ultimately take bronze.
Barba also lost his quarterfinal bout in the 165, but rebounded with a victory in the first round of the consolation bracket. A loss in the consolation semifinals sent Barba to the fifth place bout, which he won.
Elsewhere, Aden Vargus earned a sixth-place finish in the 133 while
Kael Morlock lost his pair of bouts in the 174.
JJC women's wrestling will be represented at the national tournament byÂ
Mia Orozco wrestling in the 124. The NJCAAÂ National Tournament takes place March 6-7 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
